SLUM: society of linguistics undergrads at mcgill

This semester is going by soooooo fast, but SLUM still has some really exciting stuff coming up!

It’s that time of year again when SLUM offers you the chance to buy some LINGUISTICS APPAREL! And it’s not just for undergrads! This year we’re offering 2 AWESOME t-shirt/sweatshirt designs — a superschwa and a wuglife wug! You get to pick which piece of apparel you want (we’re selling womens and mens t-shirts and sweatshirts) and which design you want. Other possible customization options are that you can have the design printed on the front or back of your t-shirt, and you can opt out of the part that says “McGill Linguistics” (just be sure to indicate this clearly on your order form).  We’re also offering linguistics-themed cotton plaid boxers! SLUM is running Midterm Study Sessions! We want to help you succeed, so be sure to check out the times/locations:

- LING200 - Study session March 6th, 4-5pm in room 002 in the Linguistics building (1085 Dr. Penfield), led by a SLUM representative
- LING201 - Study session Feb 16th (tomorrow!), 4-5 pm in room 002 in the Linguistics building (1085 Dr. Penfield), led by a SLUM representative
- Syntax 1 - Study session March 2nd, 3-4pm in room 002 in the Linguistics building (1085 Dr. Penfield), led by a SLUM representative
- Phonetics 1 - Study session Feb 17th, 3-4pm in room 002 in the Linguistics building (1085 Dr. Penfield), led by a SLUM representative
- Sociolinguistics 1 - Study session March 2nd, 4-5:30pm in room 002 in the Linguistics building (1085 Dr. Penfield), with no formal leader (it will be an informal study group)
- Second Language Syntax - Study session Feb 16th (tomorrow!), 4-5:30pm in the Linguistics Lounge (1085 Dr. Penfield, rm. 212), with no formal leader (it will be an informal study group)
- Linguistic Aspects of Bilingualism - Feb 17th (Midterm 1) and March 17th (Midterm 2) from 4-5:30pm in room 002 in the Linguistics building (1085 Dr. Penfield), with no formal leader (it will be an informal study group)

And finally…. McCCLU is around the corner!

The deadline to submit an abstract for McCCLU has already passed, but pre-registration is now open.  I’m sure, since you’ve been getting the listserv, that you’ve already heard how awesome McCCLU is, but in case you missed it: McGill’s Canadian Conference for Linguistics Undergraduates. March 6-8th. It’s going to be amazing. If you want to pre-register,  or if you just want more info,  check out the website, www.mccclu.com.  (By the way, if you register before March 2nd, you pay the reduced pre-registration price!)
