To help answer your questions, SLUM has organized futureweek; a whole week of events devoted to your future in linguistics! Whether you are about to graduate or have yet to take your first linguistics course, have a look at the schedule of events below:
Monday March 23rd: CV Drop in, 1:30-4:30 in the CAPS office. (Brown Building suite 2200)
If you are applying to grad school, looking for a summer job, or anything in between, a good CV is important. Here’s your chance to have a CAPS linguistics advisor go over your CV with you. If you would like to sign up for a short 15 minute meeting, then put your name down for a time slot on our sign-up sheet in the linguistics lounge or e-mail slum.linguistics@mail.mcgill.ca with a time from 1:30-4:30 that you would like to come. Don’t forget to bring a rough draft of your CV to the meeting!
Tuesday March 24th: Career Pannel, 4:00-5:00 in the CAPS library (Brown Building suite 2200)
Wondering what jobs you can get with a degree in linguistics? Come hear our panelists from various fields talk about what they are doing and how they got there. On this year’s panel: Heather Goad, Eva Dobler and Jason McDevitt (a speech pathologist from Idilia).
Wednesday March 25th: Peer advising session, 4:00-5:00 in the CAPS library (Brown Building suite 2200)

Thursday March 26th: Grad school info session, 4:00-5:00 (Room TBD, keep an eye out for more info coming soon)
This session is geared towards students who are thinking about applying to graduate school in linguistics. The linguistics department’s Graduate Admissions Officer and a current graduate student will team up to tell you what you need to know about applying for graduate school and for funding.
Plus….In addition to the regular futureweek events, Prof. Boberg will be offering advising for returning students from 2:00 to 5:00 on Wednesday, March 25th in his office (1085 Dr. Penfield room 223).
