			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Future Week is almost here!! Get ready for March 26th-29th: a week of activities designed help you plan your future with a linguistics degree. </p>
<p>Interested in going to graduate school in linguistics? Come Monday for Academia Day, including a Graduate School Info session. Thinking of going into speech-language pathology? There’s a presentation from an SLP on Thursday. Just need some extra advising or advice on anything linguistics-related, career or degree-planning? We’ve got an Advising Day on Tuesday where you can make an appointment with the undergraduate advisor or drop by the ling lounge to talk to some upper-year students. Take a look at the schedule and choose which activities are for you!</p>
<p>MONDAY, MARCH 26TH: ACADEMIA DAY<br />
Talks: 2:30-4<br />
Reception: 4-6<br />
If you’re interested in going to graduate school for linguistics, this day is all for you! Professor Goad will be holding a graduate school info session, and there will also be presentations from Professor Coon and a graduate student. They will all be available to answer all of your questions, and then you can grab a bite with them at the reception which will follow in the lounge.</p>
<p>TUESDAY, MARCH 27th: ADVISING DAY<br />
Professor Junko Shimoyama advising, by appointment: 1-3<br />
Peer advising: drop-in, in the linguistics lounge 11:30-4<br />
Need advice on anything and everything linguistics-related? Make an appointment with Professor Junko, or just stop on by to ask an upper-year student about classes, advice, or anything at all. For an appointment with Professor Junko Shimoyama, e-mail hannah.pinsky@mail.mcgill.ca to get a 20 minute appointment and get all of your questions answered! To talk to an upper-year student, just stop on by the ling lounge. We will also holding elections during this time, so you can come get your questions answered and cast your vote for next year’s exec.</p>
<p>WEDNESDAY, MARCH 28th: FUTUREWEEK B&amp;P<br />
When: exact time TBD<br />
Come socialize with your fellow linguistics students, meet the nominees for next year’s exec, and cast your vote! We’ll be hosting a beer and pizza at Gerts with the Russian Undergraduate Students’ Society.</p>
<p>THURSDAY, MARCH 29th: SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST PRESENTATION<br />
Presentation by Dr. Rosalee Shenker: 2:30, followed by reception<br />
Interested in a career in SLP? Come see a presentation from Dr. Rosalee Shenker, Executive Director of the Montreal Fluency Centre and long-time speech-language pathologist. She will have all sorts of helpful info for anyone interested in SLP, and she will be there to answer all of your questions! Then come relax in the lounge for a reception with refreshments right afterwards.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s that time of year! Elections for SLUM Exec 2012-2013 are here. </p>
<p>If you think you are familiar with SLUM and have enough initiative to take on an exec position, you<br />

We&#8217;ve got some truly awesome designs this year, including the highly sought after &#8220;This is a wug&#8221; design. There are 5 designs to choose from in THREE possible colours! Want a hoodie? No problem! Want a t-shirt? No problem! Want an American Apparel t-shirt? No problem! Feeling short on cash? No Problem! We even have, for the first time ever, a discount t-shirt! Thank you for all those who wrote in requesting a combined Linguistic/Psych design, due to popular demand, the SLUMwear 2010 catalogue now offers the hot design you wanted. </p>
<p>Take a look at the attached order form. They are due back Wed. Feb. 17th. You can hand them in  with exact change to Connie in rm. 111 of the Linguistics Building (1085 Dr. Penfield). </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hello all! Here is the first of many announcements regarding McGill&#8217;s fourth annual linguistic conference, better known as McCCLU (McGill&#8217;s Canadian Conference for Linguistic Undergrads)!<br />
This year the conference will be held the weekend of March 12-14, from Friday evening to Sunday morning. Expect to learn loads and have an awesome time with your fellow linguists!<br />
The conference is open to anybody interested in language, and we will keep you posted on registration fees and deadlines closer to the date. However, if you would like to present, you should submit an abstract (Max 1 page) to mccclu2010@gmail.com by February 15th, 2010. </p>
<p>So mark your calendars folks, and hope to see many happy, smiling, linguistic-loving faces this year!</p>
